Caroline Derome is a Montreal native. She first began her music studies at the tender age of five while learning the piano. At the age of 12, she continued her musical development through playing the flute as well. In 1998, she was awarded the prestigious FCAR Scholarship to pursue her Master of Music degree in flute performance at University of Montreal under the tutelage of Denis Bluteau. She had previously completed her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance at McGill University studying with Timothy Hutchins and Cindy Shuter.
Throughout her studies she participated in summer festivals in Lake Placid where she had the privilege to study with Julius Baker and Jeanne Baxtresser.
She is currently enrolled at McGill where she is pursuing her studies to complete a Bachelor of Education in Music. She is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2012.
Caroline also performs throughout Montreal as a soloist and with various Chamber Music groups. Additionally, she teaches music at the McGill Conservatory of Music and the Montreal Music Academy.

- Sept. 2010 – present: McGill Music Conservatory: Flute Instructor.
- Oct. 16, 2010: Guest speaker at the “Teaching Music to Children” workshop. This event was part of the SKILLSETS: Professional Development Workshops for Graduate Students at the McGill Music Conservatory.
- 1996 – present: Montreal Music Academy: Flute, Piano and Music Theory Teacher.
- 1993 – present Private Music Studio: Flute, Piano and Music Theory lessons (Preparation for the McGill Music Conservatory and Royal Conservatory of Music Exams, entrance exams to various music schools etc. In numerous occasions, her students have obtained the Silver Award (Prestigious Award given annually by the RCM to the student having achieved the highest examination mark in their discipline in their respective province).
- 1990 – Present Professional flutist in numerous small ensembles for such occasions as the Sunday brunches at the Mount Stevens Club, Woman’s Art Society of Montreal Concert Series, weddings, private receptions etc.
- 1995 Professional singer for St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Montreal.
- 1994 – 1996 Actress / Singer at Le jardin du Baron Fou.
